Support food preparation and cooking on a day-to-day basis within a kitchen section under the direction of the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef, ensuring mise-en-place requirements are met and the station is ready for service
Maintain adequate levels of food items to ensure a smooth service flow while supporting control of food quality, consistency, presentation, and taste
Ensure kitchen and food preparation areas are kept clean and organised at all times, especially when left unattended
Follow all company and legal requirements regarding hygiene, stock rotation, labeling, storage, temperature control, pest control, and reporting of faulty equipment, illnesses, or absences
Assist in minimising food waste and overproduction of mise-en-place and help keep food orders from stores and suppliers efficient
Support the supervision of daily tasks assigned to colleagues and assist in ensuring guidelines are followed, escalating issues when necessary
Prepare, cook, and garnish dishes according to recipes and presentation standards as orders are received
Support and assist team members in their sections to help achieve optimal quality and consistency
Follow proper health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation practices at all times
Assist in controlling costs, supporting gross profit margins, and contributing to departmental targets
Cooperate with other departments as required and maintain positive working relationships
Assist the Chef de Cuisine and Sous Chef in training kitchen staff in line with company procedures
Report maintenance, hygiene, and safety concerns promptly
Comply with hotel security, fire regulations, and all health, safety, and food safety legislation
Support the instruction and training of the kitchen team on routine procedures and assist in supervising tasks to ensure clarity and compliance
Work efficiently to reduce wastage of food and non-food items
